Even in the best run school systems, however, urban poverty poses enormous challenges for educators. Schools need family support to be successful and families need adequate housing and safe neighborhoods to protect and nurture their children. That is why families, cities, and schools must collaborate for collective impact that protects and nurtures Salem and Keizer’s children.
